In this workshop, professional helpers will have an opportunity to heal and grow, as they experience sand tray play therapy activities that are designed to focus on the helper and not the helpee. The workshop will be grounded in sand tray play therapy interventions that are well-suited for self-care and applicable to professional helpers, supervisees, and can be augmented for clients. Professional helpers will have the unique and powerful experience of what it is like to be on the receiving end of empathy, listening and care.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1) Describe a minimum of 3 sand tray play therapy techniques suitable for professional helper self-care, 2) Demonstrate empathy for clients' perspectives of sand tray play therapy, 3) Describe when and how to utilize sand tray play therapy techniques in supervision and as a means of self-care.
