Building upon the foundational knowledge gained on the first day, the second day of this training will delve deeper into the advanced applications and integration of sand play therapy in diverse therapeutic settings. This day is designed to enhance participants' proficiency and confidence in utilizing sand play therapy with various populations, including children, adolescents, and adults, in individual, family, and group contexts.

 

By the end of Day 2, participants will be able to:

 

  • Develop Advanced Sand Play Therapy Techniques: Design and implement advanced sand play therapy interventions for a variety of therapeutic issues and populations.
  • Integrate Sand Play Therapy with Other Modalities: Seamlessly incorporate sand play therapy into a broader therapeutic framework, enhancing overall treatment efficacy.
  • Conduct Culturally Sensitive and Ethical Sand Play Therapy: Apply ethical guidelines and cultural competence in their practice of sand play therapy.
  • Evaluate and Adapt Sand Play Interventions: Assess the effectiveness of sand play therapy interventions and adapt them to meet the evolving needs of their clients

 

About the presenter:

Dr. Jodi Mullen is a professor at SUNY Oswego in the Counseling & Psychological Services Department. She primarily teaches in the Mental Health Counseling Program. She is the director of Integrative Counseling Services, with several offices in Central New York. Dr. Mullen is an international speaker, author, credentialed play therapist and play therapy supervisor. Dr. Mullen has over 25 years in the field of counseling. She has authored books on play therapy, counseling children and adolescents, supervision, grief counseling and parenting. Dr. Mullen was the 2008 recipient of the Key Award for Professional Training & Education through the Association for Play Therapy. She is the proud Momma of Leah & Andrew.
